STATE POLICE FEE WOULD AFFECT MOST ERIE COUNTY MUNICIPALITIES
Your assistance is being requested...
There is genuine widespread concern over Governor Tom Wolf's budget proposal to require a $25 per person fee on local municipalities, that currently utilize the services of the Pennsylvania State Police. In Wayne Township, with a population of approximately 1,627, that would cost $40,675.00, at $25 per person.
This is money the townships don't have... Services would have to be cut or taxes raised to comply with this proposed budget proposal. Only 11 of Erie County's 38 municipalities have their own police force, paid for by the residents within each coverage area. The rest of the municipalities rely upon the services of Troop E of the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), which operates out of three stations across the county -- in Lawrence Park Township, where the Troop is headquartered, and in Girard & Corry.
The Erie County Association of Township Officials (ECATO) represents 22 first & second class townships and a majority of the nearly 250,000 residents of Erie County, Pennsylvania. ECATO encourages residents to write letters of concern to their Congress man/Congress woman. Listed below are Congress Representatives' addresses and e-mail addresses, for your letters to be sent:
>> Representative Curt Sonney 434 North Center Street Corry, PA 16407 (E-mail) firstname.lastname@example.org

ERIE COUNTY HOUSING RESOURCE DIRECTORY LAUNCHED
A new resource is available for Erie County homeowners and tenants. The Erie County Housing Resource Directory is a searchable database that includes local, state and federal programs that provide funding options for residential property owners & renters looking for homebuyer assistance, rehabilitation and critical repair funding, and home energy upgrades. Over 30 programs are included on the site, and new resources are added as they are identified. Erie County, the City of Erie, the Erie Redevelopment Authority, and Partnership Erie partnered with "Emerge 2040" to launch this valuable resource.
While landline phone numbers are already registered with the 911 system, cellphone numbers are not - and that means a growing portion of our county residents, those who only use a cellphone, might not be contacted in case of an emergency. With the rising popularity of cellphones, it is now even more important to register your information with Erie County's Emergency Notification Call-Out System, more commonly known as "Reverse 911." Please refer to our Emergency Management Webpage for links to register & update your information.
KNOW 9-1-1 KNOWS...
You may register a Household Profile with the local 9-1-1 Center so they can provide faster & better response, in the event of an emergency at your home. Please refer to our "Emergency Management" webpage for further details.
